A.J. Jacobs, the showrunner of season 2 of “Riverdale,” is not involved in writing the next season of the hit drama.
Season 4 will feature a new character and a new twist.
But in the meantime, “Rivergate” creator Rob Thomas is writing a “Riverland” spinoff.
The showrunner is also a member of the executive production team for the show, which airs Mondays at 9 p.m.
ET on Logo.
In an interview with “The Fader” last week, Thomas revealed he was working on a new series called “River Valley,” which will have a new cast, a new story and a different villain.
“I don’t think I’m going to be involved in the next three seasons of the show,” Thomas said.
“The show is over.
I don’t have any other ideas.
I feel like the writers have done a fantastic job and I want to give them a shot at this new thing.”
That said, Thomas added, “I’ll say this about it: I’d love to see ‘River Valley’ on another network.
I just don’t see it happening.”
If the series does air on another channel, Thomas says he would prefer to see the characters interact with each other.
“It’d be nice if the writers had to go out there and have fun doing this, and then they can make their own decisions about what happens next,” he said.
