The Riverdale cast returns for season 5.
Season 5 will premiere on Friday, October 14 at 8/7c on The CW.
Here’s everything we know so far.
We know Riverdale Season 6 will be a big one.
“The show has been renewed for another five years,” showrunner Jenji Kohan tells EW.
“I know that, for fans, it will feel like the beginning of something new.”
In season 6, the gang continues to try to get back to their roots, with Archie (Colton Haynes) trying to rebuild the “Bart Simpson Gang” from the ashes of the season 5 finale.
Archie and Veronica (Katie Cassidy) also have a long-awaited reunion, as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of their love, but are left wondering what’s next for them.
The two also have to deal with the death of their “Bertie” (Colin O’Donoghue), who was killed in an airplane crash in the season 6 premiere.
We can expect more than just Riverdale.
“We’re all going to be back together in season 6,” says Kohan.
“It’s the perfect season for Archie, because the season’s got a lot of new characters and a lot more depth.”
We’ll also see the return of Veronica’s (Alison Brie) father, Frank (Chris Sullivan), who died in the finale.
The show will continue to be based in Los Angeles.
“Riverdale will be filmed in L.A.,” Kohan says.
“There will be some characters coming back, but we will also be in L and Brooklyn, and that will make us even more relatable to fans of the city.”
In addition, the show will be filming in New York City, and there will be “the first episode of season 7 in New Jersey, New York.”
The season will be more fun.
“Everyone’s going to want to go back to the past and see what’s been happening,” Kohan reveals.
“You’ll get to see how much the people have changed, and how much there’s been to learn.
We’ll be exploring new places, new people.”
We get a reunion with Betty and Veronica’s parents.
“Our parents have been friends since season 2, so we’re all gonna have a big reunion, which will feel really authentic,” K, said.
“They’re all really important people in our lives, and we’ll have a great time.”
The gang will be back.
“That’s the only way we can get back,” K says.
It’s the way we’ve always done it, but the showrunners also added that the cast and crew “have worked very hard to keep our characters in the present.”
They’re also looking forward to the reunion with Frank, who died “in an airplane accident” during season 6.
“He was such a big part of our show, but this will be the first time we’ll see him again, and he will be in the most powerful position in the world,” K said.
It’ll be more than a reunion.
“One of the things that makes the Riverdale world so amazing is that everyone has had a part in our story,” K added.
“And I want the people of Riverdale to know that we are all in this together.”
